I don't really get the low reviews for this place.
The food was about average but the setting (in an old residence) and service were excellent. A friendly place to enjoy a meal.
Yes, I've had better food but the kung pao chicken was tasty with about the right amount of heat. I did add a little hot mustard to kick it up a little and that made it perfect for me.
You really should give China Hut a try. -

If you're used to eating fresh, flavorful Chinese food, you won't get your fix here. The almond chicken was served over the crispy noodles that most restaurants offer as a "munchie" for the table. The veggies were still crunchy and this was the best dish we ate. The chicken legs were over fried and virtually flavorless. The egg roll was saturated in oil and flaccid. The sweet and sour pork came with no bell pepper or onion, only canned pineapple. The pork fried rice was dry-no egg or veggies, barely any pork and no color.

The server lady is attentive and helpful. The food is very good, not San Fran or Vancouver good, but very good. Pretty good for a little house with unlimited easy parking!

Have to admit that I was hooked on the Thai House, but now that they have closed down, we decided to try this place again. Ordered to go, and was extremely happy with the entire meal. All tasted fresh, nothing overcooked and it all included "extras" that you will have to find out for yourself. Food had that "Chinese" taste to it, not phony. I'm more impressed than my old standby next to Safeway. I'll miss Thai, but WW won't be getting as much business from me now.

We were told tat China hut restaurant was "the greatest place to go" in town, so we gave it a try on our last night in Crescent City. What a disappointment!! Ordered Cashew Chicken and got Almond Chicken instead! It was so bad we had to throw it out!! Definitely will not be going back any time soon.
